In palliative care, the focus is not only on medical measures but also, in particular, on upholding human dignity, the quality of life of those affected – which constantly changes during the course of the illness – empathy and holistic support. In addition to a brief theoretical introduction to palliative care and quality of life, this course primarily conveys practical knowledge on how people with incurable illnesses and their relatives can be professionally, mindfully and individually supported in the short or long term. Of course, this takes into account physical, emotional and social aspects. Participants will also be introduced to alternative ways of supporting and caring for patients and relatives (e.g. essential oils, wraps and compresses, etc.).
