Description

The professional support of older people with mental illnesses is gaining importance in the face of increasing multimorbidity and complex behaviours. Nursing staff face the challenge of recognising, interpreting and effectively dealing with symptoms – both communicatively and in everyday nursing practice.

This training provides in-depth knowledge of common psychiatric conditions in old age and offers concrete tools for dealing with challenging situations. In addition to diagnostics and nursing approaches, key topics include relationship building, self-reflection and professional boundaries.

  • Mental illnesses in old age and their nursing-therapeutic significance
  • Systematic analysis of challenging situations and reflective action
  • Deepening communication skills and relationship building
  • Professional boundaries and self-care in demanding care contexts
