Dobratsch Round - Stage 5: Arnoldstein - Warmbad Villach

The Dobratsch Round connects five stages of varied landscapes, cultural highlights, and impressive views around Carinthia’s oldest nature park. Over a total of approximately 85 kilometres, 2,400 metres of elevation gain, and around 25 hours of walking, hikers experience the full diversity of the region: from gentle valley sections through traditional villages to scenic high-altitude trails. The Dobratsch Round is thus an ideal experience for anyone who wants to discover the nature park in its entirety – step by step, stage by stage. Stage 5: Arnoldstein - Warmbad Villach. The fifth stage of the circular hiking trail leads through the unique landscape of the largest rockfall area in the Eastern Alps. The rock debris, created by the great earthquake in 1348, still shapes the landscape today in a bizarre way and creates a habitat for an alpine-Mediterranean vegetation mosaic with an exceptionally high diversity of species. A visit to the Gail is also worthwhile, especially if your feet need cooling off. In Federaun, you return to the historic ground of Warmbad with the robber baron's castle and the Roman road. The presence of healing springs invites you to a relaxing conclusion at the Warmbad thermal centre. The hike is accompanied by Naturpark rangers. A shuttle will take you back to the starting point, return approx. 5:30 PM. Distance: 20.71 km; Ascent: 316 m; Descent: 395 m. In cooperation with: Naturpark Dobratsch.
