Dobratsch Round - Stage 4: Thörl Maglern - Arnoldstein

The Dobratsch Round connects five stages of varied landscapes, cultural highlights, and impressive views around Carinthia’s oldest nature park. Over a total of approximately 85 kilometres, 2,400 metres of elevation gain, and around 25 hours of walking, hikers experience the full diversity of the region: from gentle valley sections through traditional villages to scenic high-altitude trails. The Dobratsch Round is thus an ideal experience for anyone who wants to discover the nature park in its entirety – step by step, stage by stage. Stage 4: Thörl Maglern - Arnoldstein. The fourth stage of the circular hiking trail leads to the tri-border point, the highest point of the circular trail and the geological intersection of the Carnic Alps and the Karawanks. With just a few steps, you cross the borders of three cultures, which are even reflected in their own language families – Germanic, Slavic, and Romance. From there, the Dobratsch reveals its true size, and the length of the distance covered also becomes apparent. To the south, the imposing mountain backdrop of the Julian Alps takes your breath away. The stage ends in Arnoldstein with the striking ruins of the former Benedictine monastery of the Diocese of Bamberg. The hike is accompanied by Naturpark rangers. A shuttle will take you back to the starting point, return approx. 5:30 PM. Distance: 16.28 km; Ascent: 969 m; Descent: 1,042 m. In cooperation with: Naturpark Dobratsch.
