Dobratsch Round - Stage 3: Nötsch im Gailtal – Thörl-Maglern

The Dobratsch Round connects five stages of varied landscapes, cultural highlights, and impressive views around Carinthia’s oldest nature park. Over a total of approximately 85 kilometres, 2,400 metres of elevation gain, and around 25 hours of walking, hikers experience the full diversity of the region: from gentle valley sections through traditional villages to scenic high-altitude trails. The Dobratsch Round is thus an ideal experience for anyone who wants to discover the nature park in its entirety – step by step, stage by stage. Stage 3: Nötsch im Gailtal – Thörl-Maglern. The third stage of the circular hiking trail leaves the immediate vicinity of the Dobratsch behind and offers magnificent views of the entire mountain massif. The route leads from one idyllic village to another, and the landscape captivates with its unique charm. A romantic wooden bridge lies on the way to Achomitz, whose village square is one of the most original in the region. Göriach also presents itself in a friendly manner, and its church is definitely worth a visit. Through the ascending forest, you reach the stage destination, the border town of Thörl-Maglern. The hike is accompanied by Naturpark rangers. A shuttle will take you back to the starting point, return approx. 5:30 PM. Distance: 12.76 km; Ascent: 278 m; Descent: 191 m.
